Major “Insurance and Social Security” is created as a response to the dynamic market environment and increased demands for closer linking between higher education and business needs. The main objective of the program is to train specialists and leaders for insurance business, public insurance and private insurance institutions in Bulgaria and the European Union.
The training of students includes general theoretical and applied studies, aimed at mastering modern knowledge of insurance and insurance markets, as well as making appropriate managerial decisions in the management of the respected business. A broad-based training is provided in the field of insurance, reinsurance, public and private social security, auditing and controlling, actuarial estimates and relations with other economic spheres. During the course of studies a practicum is included, which aims to make the smooth transition of students from the university to business.
The duration of bachelor program “Insurance and Social Security” is 4 years (8 semester) full-time and ends with a state exam – a professional aptitude test IEST (Insurance Education Status Test). Graduates receive professional qualification for manager in insurance and social security institutions in state and private sector, as well as administrative staff in offices, organizations and companies, dealing with insurance and social activities.
