Industrial Business

Industrial Business Department is one of the oldest departments at the University of Economics – Varna. It was founded in 1953, in result of restructuring of existed Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences in the university. Its foundation was an expected result of the disclosure of the program Industrial Economics in 1949.

Industrial Business Department organizes and leads the training of students in two bachelor programs – Industrial Business and Entrepreneurship and Logistics, and in two master programs – Corporate Business and Management and Logistics Management. In a response to the business needs and economic practice continuously and deliberately is carried out the renovation of learning content in those programs, accompanied with hard work on improving the organization and methods of training, implementation and development of the active method of training, on deepening and improvement of practical training, on establishment and maintaining high standards and criteria both to students’ preparation and to staff qualification.

Since its establishment Industrial Business Department has prepared over 12 500 specialists, realized successfully as applied and analytical specialists, operational, functional and line managers in small, middle and large industrial companies, managers of supply chains, banks, investment institutions and funds, consulting firms, business incubators, clusters and business networks, dealers and brokers of commodity and stock exchange, distributors, entrepreneurs, and etc.

Teachers of the department carry out extensive research in advanced fields of scientific knowledge as production management, marketing, logistics, pricing, competitiveness and innovation in industrial companies, human resources management, corporate social responsibility, corporate culture, SME management, and etc. With their work in those directions the teachers help in solving major problems in economic practice, the core of which is long-term and fruitful cooperation with a number of companies and organizations.

Teachers of the department carry out consulting on large scale. They also participate in a number of expert councils in the country. Active participation of the members of the department is visible in the work of regional, district and municipal authorities, in which are analyzed and planned policies and development strategies, and also in different in nature non-governmental organizations.
