"Fundamentals of law" - all majors without "Informatics" major, 1st course, 2nd semester
The curriculum is designed to enable the students in economists to acquire basic knowledge in the theory of state and law, constitutional, administrative, civil and contractual law, law of things, labour, insurance, financial and criminal law.
The lecture course follows classical structure of the individual sectors of our national legal system. Knowledge is presented in its logical sequence, where legal branches are separated in two parts - public and private. Thus the presented lectures provide fundamental knowledge on the basic concepts and legal institutions of our national system.
The main goal of the training is to give future economists basic knowledge on the fundamental issues of law, given emphasis on the place that they will take and role that they will play in the management of the economy in market economy conditions.
The expected results from the lectures include acquiring basic legal knowledge, dealing with legal matters, applying the knowledge in solving legal cases and the formation of new knowledge related to the economics profession.
"Commercial Law" – without "Business Economics" and "Informatics" majors, 1st course, 3rd semester
The present programme covers the main issues from the field of commercial law. It is intended to be a lecture course with a total workload of 60 hours.
The lecture course systematically follows the regulatory requirements of the main institutions in accordance with the Commercial Law. It includes substantive law issues concerning: legal status of traders, their individualization feature forms of commercial representation, transformation, dissolution and liquidation of companies. Issues related to the general theory of commercial enterprise, branch manager content and deals with a company as a whole, etc. are also concerned.
The course places special emphasis on the legal regime of commercial transactions in two parts. The first part focuses on the general characteristics of commercial transactions, conclusion, peculiarities of performance and default. The second part focuses on specific types of transactions, whilst special attention is paid to the commercial sale, leasing, commission contract.
The main objective is to provide future economists legal knowledge, good understanding and application of the normative legislation with a view to professional execution of their obligations as practising economists.
The expected results of the lecture course are: expansion of the legal knowledge, acquisition of skills for working with legal documents and formation of new knowledge related to the economics profession and application of the legal knowledge in solving practical cases.
"Law of Things" - "Immovable Property Economics" major, Bachelor's degree, course of study 4, semester 7
The lecture course systematically follows the regulatory requirements of the main institutions, connected with the classical problems of the Law of Things. Emphasis is placed on the legal regime of basic rights to things - the right to property, right to build, air rights and right to build an extension. Legal analysis is carried out of the grounds for origination and termination of the rights to things, the types of ownership and legal remedies.
Of practical importance are also the problems related to possession as a factual situation, ownership and methods of its termination, regulations on the Registry, the legal regime of the condominium.
The main objective is to create a complex legal knowledge with a view to the practical realization of the economists of the major - Immovable Property Management.
"International Private and Public Law" - for "International Economic Relations" major, course of study 4, semester 8
The lecture course on International Private and Public Law has the goal to present the students in International Economic Relations the minimum knowledge on international private and public law, necessary for their future professional development as international economists. The topics are selected not only in view of their theoretical importance, but also in view of their practical applicability in the economic relations of our country with other countries and its participation in international economic organizations.
As it can be seen from the name of the course, it is composed of two separate legal disciplines and the course of lectures follows their consistent studying and is therefore divided into two parts. The first part deals with the relations governed by public international law, subjects, state responsibility, international treaty, state territory, international spaces, diplomatic and consular law, international organizations. The second part deals with: regulation of civil relationships with an international element, types of conflict legal rules, legal status of the subjects in private international law, issues of law of things, contractual law, copyright law, international sales contract, international payments and lending.
The expected learning outcomes of the course "International private and public law" for the students in economics, can be summarized in the following parameters: the acquisition of basic knowledge in the field of international public and private international law; understanding the essence of the basic legal institutions and their specificity from the perspective of international law; real application of the acquired basic knowledge of law /subject "Fundamentals of Law"/ and their upgrade in order to compare them with the international institutions; formation of skills to operate with the specialized international regulations and forming an understanding of their application when in conflict with the internal regulations of the Bulgarian legislation.
"Labour Law" - optional, for majors "Public Administrations", Bachelor's degree, course of study 3, semester 6
The programme is intended for the students in "Public Administration". The topics included are connected with explanation of the basic issues of labour law. They concern the legal status and functioning of the different institutions and legal relations in the given branch of law.
The taught material is aimed at providing the students with knowledge in the field of the employment relationship in law. This knowledge is really needed in their practice as future professionals and facilitates their integration into the chosen profession. The study of Labour Law in the process of education of the students from this major is directly related to the management functions and decisions for which they are preparing.
The course reflects the upcoming changes and provides up to date information and analysis regarding the concerned legal relationships concerned.
"Law in Tourism" - for major "Tourism", Bachelor's degree, course of study 3, semester 5
Fundamental legal course studies the legal regulation of the most important public relations followed by a systematic structure of Bulgarian legislation, focusing on the legal regime of the economic relations governed by the legal branch of "Commercial law". The final part of the comprehensive course is dedicated to the specific legislation on the relations in the field of tourism.
"Business Law" - optional, for major "Logistics", Bachelor's degree, course of study 3, semester 6;
for major "Commerce Commodities Studies", course of study 4, semester 8
Offered lecture course is practically focused at the legal framework related to conducting business in as an activity, irrespective of the economic sphere. The thematic content of the individual issues affect both private law and public law branches. Covered are basic issues related to the legal forms of doing business, the status of European companies and offshore zones. Covered are also issues related to competition law - the concept of competition, kinds of unfair competition and protection. Explained are the problems concerning tax proceedings and issuance of tax assessment notice, insolvency and bankruptcy. Measures for company turnaround are also presented. It is precisely this specificity to cover a wider volume of legal aspects and problems that may arise when doing business that justifies the relevance and the necessity of this scientific discipline.
The expected results of the course are: understanding of the legal matter, working with legal documents and capability to expand knowledge and acquire legal information.
"Commercial Law and Law of Obligations" - for majors "Finance", Bachelor's degree, course of study 3, semester 5
The present programme covers the main issues from the field of commercial law and law of obligations. It is intended for a lecture course with a total workload of 30 hours.
The lecture course systematically follows the regulatory requirements of the main institutions in accordance with the Commercial Act and common civil law - Obligations and Contracts Act. It includes substantive law issues concerning: legal status of traders, transformation, dissolution and liquidation of companies. The lecture course is also conformable to the harmonization of legislation with European company law. European Union types of commercial companies - European Company and European Economic Interest Grouping are studied.
Issues related to the general theory of contracts, performance and non-performance of obligations, general theory of commercial enterprise, collateralization of receivables, bank transaction.

Labour and Social Security Law - for "Accounting and Audit" Programme and "Accounting and Finance" Programme; course of study: 3, semester: 5 of the Bachelor programme
The comprehensive course involves two independent branches - labour and social security law, studied and offered as subjects in their integrity, relevance and trends for development.
The labour law branch studies the essence of the employer-employee relationship, the specifics of their origin, development and particular qualities, as well as the different types of labour agreements, working time, rest time, leaves, disciplinary and material liability, etc.
The social security law branch deals with the basic issues of the public - state and social security. The branch gives guidance for understanding the types of insurance legal relations, short-term social, pension and health insurance. In this regard knowledge is acquired about the way of origin and development of the social security legal relations, the specifics of the social security risks and benefits, types of indemnities, pension types, as well as health insurance specifics and related allowances.
The comprehensive understanding of the subject allows the future economists to get successfully employed and to manage business projects in accordance with the requirements of the legislation and to execute and stand for their labour and social security rights as a part of staff, as managers and self-insured economic actors. The in-depth knowledge of the labour and social security law is a prerequisite for the successful management of personnel, as well as for taking successful and flexible managerial decisions.
