In 1938 a Jewish family flees from Germany to Kenya, where they become farmers. The new world provides many challenges for the parents and their daughter, Regina, who is the first to learn how to live in Africa. When the war starts, the family is taken away by the English and their life changes.
German writer Stefanie Zweig's autobiographical novel was turned into an award-winning Film and won an Oscar for best foreign language film in 2003.
