In 2011, the National Bank of Serbia initiated the Annual Conference of Young Economists as an efficient way for a small group of advanced doctoral students and recent doctoral graduates in all fields of economics and finance to present their research and obtain an in-depth feedback on their work through interaction with a group of distinguished international scholars led by Boyan Jovanovic (New York University). The Conference has attracted participants from several leading European universities and central banks and has proven quite rewarding for young researchers. Starting with 2014, the venue of the Conference is the Faculty of Economics, University of Belgrade, the oldest and the most reputable institution for higher education in the area of economics in this part of the world. In 2014, the conference has featured 12 excellent papers (out of more than 100 that applied) from many of the leading European institutions.
